Isis Heron - Original 66x94cm

Isis was the wife of Osiris and the mother of Horus, she was a major Egyptian deity thought to weave magic, protecting Egypt and she is the goddess of love, magic, healing and the moon. There are some beautiful legends about her in Egyptology.
 
I used watercolour to depict the beautiful colours of the herons I see locally on the lakes near to where I live, I don't use masking fluid to make each white line between the colours, and I almost have to enter a near trance state, like Shamans, to work on all of these paintings. Each one takes a long time to complete and the colours must blend and be in harmony with each other.
